Level 4: Whitewater Kayaking Instructor Certification Workshop (IDW/ICE)

This is a five day course that can certify kayakers who have not previously held instructor certifications. It can also serve as an update for someone who already holds a Level 1, 2, 3 or 4 certification. This course is hosted by Northwoods Outdoor Center and will be facilitated by L4 Kayak Instructor Trainer Sandra Newbury on the Wolf River or the Peshtigo River in Northeast Wisconsin.
Sandra is an expert educator accustomed to instructing and training a variety of skill levels, learning styles and ambitions.
ICW’s are designed to:
-Be a fun experience of paddlesports
-Introduce established boaters to ACA Instructor Criteria and other ACA policies, procedures, curricula, history and membership benefits.
-Introduce and/or improve skills in the following areas: boating ability, technical knowledge of paddlesports, group and risk management, rescue, teaching skills and theory, and people skills.
-You will also learn how to register, report, insure and advertise paddlesport courses through the ACA website.
-Registering for and completing the course does not guarantee certification.
About Sandra:
This ACA L3/L4 Kayaking Instructor Certification Workshop will be facilitated by ACA Instructor Trainer Sandra Newbury. When training Instructors Sandra draws from experience training multiple movement disciplines and being a life long educator in a diverse range of settings. In addition to boating and instructional development, Sandra’s focus includes attention to skills and competencies around Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, with a focus on ways students are empowered through play to achieve their maximum potential. Like any boater, she loves being on the rivers!
