We are thrilled to share that the ACA Safety and Rescue Committee has been selected as a recipient of the Higgins and Langley Program and Team Development Award. This prestigious, international award honors organizations that commit time, resources, education, and training to successful swiftwater and flood rescue team development — and this year, it’s recognizing the Committee’s work to ensure paddlers and rescue professionals alike are trained and ready to respond in the event of a drowning.
The ACA is incredibly fortunate to have knowledgeable physicians and rescue professionals serving on the Safety and Rescue Committee. Their leadership has helped ensure that the critical distinctions in resuscitation efforts following a drowning are understood and practiced not just by emergency response professionals, but by everyday paddlers who may be the first on scene when it matters most.
This marks the second time the ACA Safety and Rescue Committee has been recognized with a Higgins and Langley award. In 2018, the Committee received a Special Commendation Award for its work advancing swiftwater rescue training through the Swiftwater Rescue Conference.
Congratulations to the entire ACA Safety and Rescue Committee on this well-deserved honor!
