Level 4: Whitewater Kayaking Instructor Update Course

L3 & L4 combined River Kayak Instructor Recertification training is a program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and instruction of whitewater kayaking skills in public, private and commercial settings. The course will have a minimum of 16 contact hours over 2 days. On river instruction will be on the St. Francis River, Missouri, a Class 2-3 section (https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/view/river-detail/2921/main). Off river instruction will be at Cinco de Mayo Campground (where sleeping accommodations are separately available). Applicants should register on the MWA website (https://missouriwhitewater.org/calendar/category/training/); and have prior L3 OR L4 River Kayak Instructor Certification. Cost is $175, due in advance, with registration.

This two-day course immerses participants in kayak instruction. Participants will need to be prepared to be on water about 4/5 of the time, regardless of weather conditions, unless hazardous (storms or extreme heat or cold). Participants should bring whatever items they need to paddle.
