Overview:
This introductory Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) class is designed for beginners who want to build confidence on the water while learning fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment. Using the American Canoe Association (ACA) standards, we will cover essential paddling techniques, balance, and safety to set you up for a successful SUP experience.
What You’ll Learn:
Board & Paddle Basics – Understanding SUP equipment, proper board positioning, and paddle sizing.
Balance & Stance – How to stand up, maintain stability, and adjust posture for control.
Paddling Techniques – Forward strokes, sweep turns, stopping, and back-paddling.
Self-Rescue & Safety – How to re-enter your board from the water and basic water safety principles.
Turning & Maneuvering – Practicing efficient turns and directional control.
Understanding Water Conditions – Reading currents, wind, and hazards for a safe paddleboarding experience.
What to Bring:
– Swimwear or quick-dry clothing
– Water shoes or secure sandals
– Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses (with a strap)
– Refillable water bottle
– Towel and a change of clothes (optional)
