Level 3-4: Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Certification Workshop (IDW/ICE)

This Level 3-4 Instructor Certification Workshop takes place on the Potomac River near Washington DC and is split over two 3-day weekends. It is possible to update or upgrade by taking just one of the weekends with permission from the Instructor Trainer.

Course Fee: $850
Additional fees:
ACA Membership ($40 annually, required to take the course)
SEIC Dues ($25 annually, if certified)
Fee does not cover food, lodging or gear rental

Level 3 or 4 or 5 SWR Skills Award or equivalent strongly recommended prior to enrollment. Please consult with the Instructor Trainer to screen for appropriate skill level if you do not have a skills award/other rescue certification.

Jordan Taylor (he/thy) is a Level 4 Instructor Trainer and Level 5 Instructor in the ACA Safety & Rescue program. Taylor also certifies Instructor Trainers in Canoe and Kayak. He teaches rescue to first season boaters, Class 5+ kayakers and Navy SEALS. He has served in faculty development roles in the Calleva River School (DC) in the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), North Carolina Outward Bound School, and the Madawaska Kanu Centre (Ontario). He is especially interested in developing skills that make paddlesports feel like home for as many different kinds of people as possible.
