This 2 day Level 3-4 Skills Course is designed to be fun, to help you test your limits as a rescuer, and to give you a chance to train and practice the most relevant skills available in the Whitewater Industry. An optional Formal Skills Assessment credential is available on request.
This course is hosted by Sandra Newbury’s Northwodds Outdoor Center and facilitated by Jordan Taylor of the Paddlesport Institute. Jordan (he/they) completed his American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 5 SWR Instructor certification in 2018 (with Jim Coffey Sam Fowlkes and Robin Pope) and his Level 4 SWR Instructor Trainer certification in 2023 (with Mike Mather of Mather Rescue). They attended the ACA’s national conference on SWR in 2023 and has been a leader in offering excellent rescue instruction to the DC area boating community. They also teaches Rescue at the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center (Buena Vista, CO) Zoar Outdoors (Charlemont, MA) and trains River Program faculty for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Jordan was the ACA Instructor of the Month in March 2023. His specialty is making Paddlesport instruction more inclusive of lots of kinds of people.
