Level 4: Swiftwater Rescue Skills Assessment

Taken rescue before? These one day sessions will review the most essential techniques and assess your ability to support rescues on the river. These courses meet Calleva’s requirement for class IV trips.

Learn and drill the most practical SWR skills. This course is ideal as your first rescue course or as a refresher if you’ve been away from rescue training for a while. Skills covered: Swimming, Wading, Throw Ropes, Boat Based Rescue, Tethered Rescues, Boat Unpinning and Rescue Leadership & Decision Making.

In Safety & Rescue Jordan serves the ACA as an Instructor Trainer at L4 and an Instructor at L5. They serve as a voting member on the ACA Safety & Rescue Committee, and are on the Astral Designs Rescue Pro Team.
Jordan is a Sierra Rescue International Wilderness Medicine Instructor

Jordan has thirty years of experience instructing whitewater and has served many organizations in an instructor development role: Davidson College Outdoor Program (NC) The Calleva River School (DC), National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center (CO), Zoar Outdoor (MA), Madawaska Canoe Center (Ontario) and others. Taylor is passionate about educational spaces designed with lots of different kinds of people in mind.
