The St. Louis Canoe and Kayak Club having a Summer Solstice Skills Clinic for members. If you are not a member yet, you have time to join! The clinic is on Saturday, June 21 from 9 AM to 5 PM at Council Bluff Lake near Potosi, MO. Join us for a Sunset to Dark Sky Paddle, if you like, on Friday, June 20 with free group camping on site (no RV’s). Bad place for sunset but great place for sky.
Saturday, June 21 is for skills work matched to the participant’s interests and abilities. Classes are offered for adults in kayaks, kids in kayaks, MR-340 racers, and people who need assessments before taking a Level 2 Coastal or River Instructor Course. They also have instructors who can help you choose a boat and paddle that works for you and, if enough people register, perhaps a canoe class. The lovely, clear lake is perfect for deep-water rescues. Potluck/concessionaire hybrid dinner will take place on Saturday with more free camping Saturday night courtesy of the Club. Join for just Saturday or plan to stay for the weekend! Expect to get tired, wet, and happy!
