Summer Solstice After Work Paddle

101 Taylor Street, Cannelton, IN, USA

Paddle Perry hosts an After Work Summer Solstice Paddle!

Paddle Perry is offering a free after work paddle in celebration of the American Canoe Association’s summer solstice party! Let’s all get outside and paddle this summer solstice, June 21, for a chance to connect with your community and reflect on what draws us to the water.

Drop off your equipment at the Cannelton boat ramp where a Paddle Perry volunteer will be on watch as early as 6 p.m. CST. Drive your vehicle to the Tell City ramp (park along 7th Street, Tell City in front of the Depot) to catch a shuttle back to Cannelton. This will allow your vehicle to be at the take out spot waiting for you after the paddle.

Limited space available. First come, first serve. Shuttle leaves Tell City at 6:20 p.m. CST. Please be on time. You may meet us at the Cannelton Boat Ramp, located at the corner of First Street + Taylor Street in Cannelton, IN at 6:30 p.m. CST for launch, however you will be responsible for your own shuttle back to Cannelton after the paddle.

Please sign our waiver before launching with us.

Things to bring:

  • life jacket (must be worn)
  • kayak and paddle
  • headlamp
  • rain gear
  • water shoes
  • snacks and drinks
  • towel
  • extra clothes (always be prepared for immersion / rain)

Launch at 6:30 p.m. CST at Cannelton boat ramp – DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAR KEYS IF YOU UTILIZED THE SHUTTLE!

This is approximately a 3 NM paddle, that will take about 1.5 hours.

After the paddle you’re encouraged to show off your creative side and tell the world why you love to paddle by entering into ACA’s short essay and photo contest! Capture the moment and write a short essay with the prompt, “Today is the longest day of the year, and I am paddling because…” The theme is UNITY – We are unique and eclectic group of people united by our love of paddling. We want to know what makes paddling special to you and why it is so important to protect the waters that we love to paddle.
