USA delivered strong performances at the 2025 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, held September 28–October 3 in Penrith, Australia. The event drew the world’s top slalom paddlers to the historic Sydney 2000 Olympic course, where athletes competed across canoe, kayak, and kayak cross events.
Leading the U.S. effort was Evy Leibfarth, who capped off a remarkable week by finishing in the top ten in all three women’s events—an impressive feat on the international stage. Leibfarth placed 10th in Women’s Canoe, 4th in Women’s Kayak, and advanced through a competitive field in Kayak Cross, finishing 11th in the individual time trial and 8th in the final.
The Women’s Kayak Team also had a standout performance, securing a 10th-place finish thanks to consistent runs from Leibfarth, Ria Sribar, and Marcella Altman.
In the Men’s Kayak Team event, Kyler Long, Kaelin Friedenson, and Tyler Westfall paddled to a 17th-place finish, representing the next generation of U.S. slalom talent with promising runs on the demanding Penrith course.
These results included solid showings by seasoned veterans and Olympians as well as a valuable experience for our younger athletes in the U.S. slalom program. The team will be working hard this off season with sights set on a competitive season in 2026.
Congratulations to all USA athletes, coaches, and support staff for their efforts and teamwork throughout the Championships!
