Team USA Canoe/Kayak athletes are on the ground in Paris and gearing up to compete.

July 25, 2024

Team USA Canoe/Kayak athletes Jonas Ecker, Aaron Small, Casey Eichfeld, and Evy Leibfarth have been busy in Paris settling into the Athlete Village, getting kitted in Team USA apparel, connecting with the press, and preparing for race day.

Jonas, Aaron, Casey, and Evy will join athletes from all delegations for the Opening Ceremony on the River Seine tomorrow night. A flotilla of boats will carry the athletes on a nearly four-mile journey through the heart of Paris. Nevin Harrison will soon join the team in Paris and prepare for canoe sprint events to kick off on August 6!

Less than 24 hours from floating down the Seine in front of as many as 600,000 spectators, Jonas shares that, “I’m super excited to attend the opening ceremonies and kick off the Games with Team USA! So many of Paris’ landmarks are visible from the river Seine and I’m so excited to experience the beauty of the city with the rest of the world in a truly unique way.”

Evy and Casey have been spending time on the water at the Vaires-sur-Marne nautical stadium. In just two days, on July 27, the stands will be filled and Casey and Evy will have their first races of the 2024 Olympics Games!

Casey Eichfeld reflects on the lead up to the games and shares how, “it’s a funny feeling to be racing in just two days from now. After competing in an Olympics, you can’t help but wonder if you will make it back to another. Now I am here, ready to go, and I get to share the whole experience with my family in Paris!”

Casey will race first at 9am ET in the Men’s Canoe Single Heats 1st Run. Evy’s will compete soon after for the Women’s Kayak Single Heats 1st Run at 10am ET.

Casey will race again on Saturday at 11:10am ET for the Men’s Canoe Single Heats 2nd Run. Evy will have her final race of the day at 12:10pm ET for the Women’s Kayak Single Heats 2nd Run.
