Goal:
Prepare students to be able to safely assess, plan, and navigate flatwater and up to class II rivers environments.
Objectives:
Understand gear & equipment choices
Develop paddling skills & technical river maneuvers
Practice rescue & safety skills
Learn about river features, risk, and hazards
Build trip planning and group management
Requirements:
Meet Essential Eligibility Criteria
Be at least 18 years of age
Be or become a member of the ACA
Become a member of the Safety, Education, and Instruction (SEI) Committee
Successfully complete the course (requires: attendance at every session, completed homework, and paddling tests).
