Hello! The ACA’s Sprint Committee is looking for volunteers to join multiple new subcommittees that will aim to support the canoe/kayak sprint athletes in the US. The Sprint Committee manages many things related to the sprint discipline, but we know there is space for us to have an even greater positive impact. We hope the establishment of these subcommittees will further support all of our athletes.
The paragraphs below contain a brief overview of new subcommittees. The goals and tasks may change slightly as we figure out how to best support our athletes.
The chair of each of the subcommittees will be a member of the Sprint Committee and will serve as a connection point between the two.
National Team Subcommittee (Chair: Elena Wolgamot)
This subcommittee aims to support the current Senior and U23 National Team Athletes and will be responsible for the following:

Drafting the National Team selection criteria

Creating the National Team calendar (trip and camp dates)

Guiding the establishment and organization of National Team training camps

Advising the disbursement of funding/support
We are looking for members who are excited about this effort and have experience as a coach or national team athlete.
Financial Opportunities SubCommittee(Chair: Aukai Manson)
The Financial Opportunities Committee of the American Canoe Association’s Sprint Canoe and Kayak Division is dedicated to securing and managing the financial resources necessary for the development and success of sprint canoe and kayak athletes. Our primary goals are to identify and secure diverse funding sources, develop and maintain a comprehensive budget, and ensure financial transparency and accountability. By supporting athlete development and high-performance national team activities, we aim to enhance the overall performance and competitiveness of our athletes on the national and international stages.
Development SubCommittee(Chair: Payton Chiou)
The Development Subcommittee is committed to the U18 athlete level in ACA Sprint Canoe and Kayak discipline. Our focus is to support the junior development of the country by planning development training camps, communicating between club leaders across the country, creating OHR and Jr World Selection processes, creating and supporting the development of new clubs and young clubs, and helping plan functions that relate to U18 athletes. We interact with the Financial Subcommittee for finding funds for U18 athletes; the National Team SubCommittee for preparing young athletes for national team level; and the Events SubCommittee for creating nw opportunities for Juniors to race.
Events Subcommittee (Chair: Sepideh Homami)
The Events Subcommittee is focused on high quality domestic events for the Sprint community as well as selecting appropriate ICF Events for our Junior and National Teams. We keep the race calendar up to date, pursue new racing venues, establish criteria for using venues for different level of events, establishing the ACA Sprint National Championship venue 2 years in advance, working closely with the Sprint Officials Association, establishing competition rules, coordonating volunteers, and working with the other subcommittees for recommendations.
