Volunteers gather in the morning on the third or fourth Saturday of every scheduled month between May and September to help clean up litter in the Creek and adjacent banks. They are briefed on the plan of the day and safety precautions. They are reminded the Creek bottom is irregular and slippery. If injured, they are encouraged to seek first aid immediately. They are encouraged to “buddy up”. Under experienced leadership they are led into the Creek, lined up across the Creek, and commence working upstream. Trash is collected in plastic bags. Larger objects such as tires are loaded on to the small boats. Usually approximately ¾ mile is covered in about 2.5 hours. The volunteers are then returned to their vehicle by car or by wading downstream, no later than noon.
