St Francis River, MO, USA

Swiftwater Rescue instruction, L4, is a program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and instruction of swiftwater rescue skills in public, private and commercial settings. The course will have a minimum of 16 contact hours over 2 days. On river instruction will be on the St. Francis River, Missouri, a Class 2-3 section (https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/view/river-detail/2921/main). Off river instruction will be at Cinco de Mayo Campground (where sleeping accommodations are separately available). Applicants should register on the MWA website (https://missouriwhitewater.org/calendar/category/training/). Cost is $175, due in advance, with registration.

This two-day course immerses participants in swiftwater instruction. Participants will need to be prepared to be in (or on water in their boat) about 4/5 of the time, regardless of weather conditions, unless hazardous (storms or extreme heat or cold). Participants should bring whatever items they need to be comfortable and to paddle.
