The process of becoming an ACA Leader Trainer (LT):
- Be an ACA certified Instructor or Leader for a minimum of 2 years prior to registering as a Leader Trainer Candidate
- Complete a Leader Trainer Candidate (LTC) Registration Form
- Receive confirmation from the SEI Department that you are approved to take the next steps
- Have completed a secondary instructor certification or skills award (assessment) Note: Current awards issued by other paddlesports certification bodies may be submitted for consideration.
- Attend a Virtual Training
- Connect with an LTE mentor for support and oversight of your LT course plans and administrative work
- Co-Teach an LDW & LCE or LCW with a peer or currently certified Leader Trainer or Leader Trainer Educator*
- Submit your final Leader Trainer Application Form
- SEI Department will present your LT application to the SEIC Standards Committee for review and voting
Additional Notes:
- *Peer = Current ACA instructor who is a registered LTC, and who has conducted and properly reported an ACA Trip Leader training and assessment course. If you have not conducted and properly reported an ACA Trip Leader training and assessment course in the past, you are required to co-teach an LDW & LCE or LCW with an LT or LTE mentor (not a peer).
- Review the SEIC Policy Manual for full policies in effect at the time of your registration and application
- The LT Candidate shall be ultimately responsible for full compliance with SEIC Policies and Procedures
- Upon becoming an Leader Trainer, annual SEIC dues are $110 per year
