On November 1, the ACA Story Project returns for its second year. Every day this November (and December 1), we’re publishing a new paddling story written by an ACA member.
Each story is an invitation to reflect on what paddling has meant to you and to give back so that more paddlers can have journeys of their own. Without opportunity, these stories wouldn’t exist.
How the Story Project Works
- A new story is published every day from November 3 through Giving Tuesday, December 1, at https://americancanoe.org/story-project/
- Each story is also shared on the ACA’s Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages. If one resonates with you, we hope you’ll share it and add a comment about your own paddling memories.
- Every 5 stories, we’ll send an email with links to the stories you may have missed.
Thank you for being part of the ACA community, and for every journey you’ve taken and shared.
Help us reach our $25,000 fundraising goal.
Coming November 1: “Sweet Spot” by Robert Kauffman
In the 1970s, if you wanted a whitewater boat, you had to build it, and many of them were born in John Sweet’s garage in State College, Pennsylvania. Robert takes us back to a time when the sport was in its infancy, with slalom races in a swimming pool, a river run following the leader like ducklings, and a mentor who shaped a generation of boaters.
