Old Mill Park, Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA, USA

Please join us for the 44th Great Rappahannock Whitewater Canoe Race to be hosted on Saturday, June 6th 2026!

The ACA is proud to host the Great Rappahannock Whitewater Canoe Race on the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg, Virginia! This family-friendly race features events for everyone! Racers choose from a 5-mile downriver race, a 1-mile sprint, or a flatwater dash! With assistance from the free river shuttle service provided by the Virginia Outdoor Center, racers have the opportunity to compete in multiple races or categories including canoe, kayak, tandem canoe/kayak, or SUP! The competition features categories for both recreational paddlers and expert racers. *Helmets are required for all racers on the whitewater sections of the river, downriver and sprint.

Registration Costs:
First race: $25
Additional races: $10
Limited Edition T-Shirt: $20

Participants may race in up to two downriver (5-miles) races and two sprint or flatwater dash (1-mile) races during the event, for a total of up to 4 races.
The whitewater downriver (5-mile) portion of the race begins at 9 AM from the Mott’s Run public boat launch on River Road. The last downriver race boat will launch at 11 AM. The downriver awards ceremony will be held at Old Mill Park around 12:30 PM.
The whitewater sprint (1-mile) portion of the race begins at 1:00 PM from the riverside launch point, near 3210 Fall Hill Avenue. There will be a pop up tent and several people standing at the river side, so it should be easy to identify. The last sprint boat will launch at 2:15 PM.
The flatwater dash (1.8 mile) will begin around 1:00PM. Dashers will enter the water at Old Mill Park and race to City Dock. The last flatwater dash boat will launch at 2:00 PM.
The whitewater sprint and flatwater dash awards ceremony will be held at Old Mill Park around 3:00 PM.
The shuttle service is free and will start from Old Mill Park beginning at 8 AM (so when you’re done with the race, you’ll be near your car).
