The American Canoe Association (ACA) is excited to announce the formation of a Stand Up Paddling (SUP) Competition Committee, tasked with a number of vital responsibilities, the first being the selection of the USA Stand Up Paddling (SUP) National Team to represent the United States in international ICF (International Canoe Federation) competitions.

As Stand Up Paddling (SUP) continues to gain popularity and recognition as a thrilling water sport, the formation of the ACA SUP Competition Committee signifies a significant step forward in advancing the competitive landscape of paddleboard racing in the United States.

The newly elected ACA SUP Competition Committee brings together expertise and insight from both organizations, leveraging their collective knowledge and resources to ensure a fair and transparent selection process. Composed of experienced paddlers, coaches, and officials, the committee will uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in evaluating athletes for the national team.

The establishment of the SUP Competition Committee marks a significant milestone in the development of stand up paddling as a competitive sport, offering athletes a structured and merit-based approach to earning a coveted spot on the USA Stand Up Paddling National Team.

The SUP Competition Committee will begin by overseeing the selection process for the national team, taking into account factors such as performance, potential, and character. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence, the committee aims to inspire and empower athletes to pursue their passion for paddleboard racing with dedication and determination.

The 2024 USA Stand Up Paddling National Team Selection Event at which the National Team will be named, will be the USA SUP National Championships at the Olukai Low Country Boil in Hilton Head, South Carolina from September 6 to 8, 2024. The National Team will compete in the ICF World Championship in Sarasota, Florida from November 19 to 24, 2024.

Stay tuned for updates as the SUP Competition Committee begins its work to select the next generation of paddling champions to proudly represent the United States on the global stage.
