Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW)

Join Roland McDevitt and Ashley Brown in beautiful Colington Harbor, NC July 30 –
August 2!  This four-day Level 2 Essentials of Kayak Touring Instructor
Certification Workshop is an immersive, hands-on experience designed for paddlers
ready to deepen their skills and step confidently into instructional leadership.
Participants will refine their personal paddling technique, rescue skills, and group
management while building a strong foundation in teaching methods, risk assessment,
and coastal decision-making. Through on-water practice, land-based discussions, and
real-world scenarios shaped by weather, tides, and conditions, the course emphasizes
thoughtful progression, clear communication, and adaptive leadership. Whether your
goal is certification or professional development, this workshop delivers a rigorous,
supportive learning environment that strengthens both your paddling and your ability to
teach safely and effectively in coastal settings.
