Join us in the excellent paddling venues around Mount Desert Island, for an instructor update, delivered in the context of exciting moderate and advanced skills coaching. To make the most out of your update experience, we’re combining 2 remote-learning ACA update sessions with 2 days of fully on-water training, utilizing currents, rocks and surf environments at a variety of challenge levels, so help you expand your limits, improve your instructing, and spend some great time in fun paddling venues too!
Remote learning sessions will explore a variety of evidence based approaches to teaching, instructing, and coaching. Potential topics include: session planning for long term and short term development (moving beyond IDEAS), structuring practice, differentiated instruction, facilitating effective assessments, and how to maximize the use of feedback.
On-water sessions will give you the chance to see these practices exemplified in the real world, and experiment with your own new teaching tools.
Run by three Instructor Trainers and Coaches, we’ll provide whole group sessions, as well as level-specific sessions for L2, L3, L4 and L5 Instructors.
