This fall the ACA will be holding an election for Team USA Athletes Commission(Team USA AC) Representatives. The election will be for (2) positions, (1) Primary Athlete Representative and (1) Alternate Athlete Representative. These positions serve as the liaison between the athletes, ACA, USOPC, and Team USA AC.
As an athlete representative you will engage with and understand the athletes you represent, attend relevant meetings, and relay relevant information. Facilitating athlete feedback, communicating with key stakeholders, voting on Team USA AC actions, and staying informed on bylaws and policies affecting athlete rights are all key responsibilities of the athlete representatives.
The call for nominations will be sent on October 1, 2024. In order to self-nominate, athletes must submit a resume and statement of interest. The nomination window will be open for one month, elections will commence November 1, with results being announced November 18, 2024.
In order to be considered for the position, athletes must meet the definition of a USOPC 10-year athlete in Sprint, Slalom, or Paracanoe. According to Team USA AC a “USOPC 10-year athlete means an athlete who has been selected by their NGB to represent the United States in a Delegation Event or other International Qualifying Competition within the previous 10 years.” Delegation Event or other International Qualifying Competition include the Olympics, Paralympics, Pan American Games, Para Pan American Games, Senior World Championship, or World Cup event.
