Sprint National Team athlete, Nathan Humberston, works with U.S. Performance Center Staff in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The ACA is a proud partner of U.S. Performance Center (USPC), a high-performance facility that aims to harness the peak of human potential, to help athletes excel in competitions at home and internationally, and ultimately, to clinch gold! USPC staff work directly with U.S. Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom National Team athletes to develop personal, sport-specific training plans.
“USPC has been an integral part of our success over the last year,” shares Jedediah Hinkley, ACA Competition Director. “The quality and consistency of the programming has been a huge step forward for our organization, and the testing they provide allows us to monitor and adapt as needed. Our athletes and coaches are benefiting from their world-class services in many areas including strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition, and physical therapy and recovery. We know that the support they provide is going to pay huge dividends over that next quad and put on the podium once again in LA.”
USPC takes a science-based approach to create innovative and highly specialized training and development programs to dramatically improve athletic performance on all levels. Athletes receive a dedicated training regimen specific to their individual sport, needs, and body composition, with continual testing to measure their performance and develop metrics.
Nathan Humberston has competed on the U.S. Sprint National Team since 2019. Since he began training with the USPC in 2024, Nathan has found the staff and resources of USPC to have been an incredible supplement in his sprint kayak training. “It was a great experience visiting the Center for baseline testing, and I was especially impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge of the staff. It’s reassuring to have my personal program built and maintained by professionals who are in touch with my training data and individual feedback. Even though I live across the country from the Center, excellent communication and programming from the staff has me feeling very confident in my training.”
We sincerely look forward to the next round of athlete testing this spring and to our continued partnership with USPC!
